Santa Rita’s best-selling 120® range of varietal wines pays homage to a band of heroes that fought valiantly for Chile’s independence from the Spanish Crown in the early 19th century.

Legend has it that one fateful night in 1814, one of the country’s forefathers, General Bernardo O’Higgins, and 120 of his bravest patriots sought refuge in the cellars of the Santa Rita Hacienda after a bloody battle in the nearby city of Rancagua.

Thanks to the sanctuary that the estate provided, the 120 courageous soldiers regained their strength and continued on to Santiago and their successful quest for freedom and independence.

It is in those same cellars that the Santa Rita’s award-winning wines are so carefully and expertly crafted. Today, Santa Rita continues to honor those 120 brave patriots – and their unique role in Chilean national history – by celebrating and supporting heroes around the world that make a difference in our lives today.
