Teacher, Mom of Three, and a Charity Organizer

Hero: Jennifer Pomfret
By: James Pomfret, Decatur, GA

My hero is my wife, Jennifer Pomfret.  She has been a dedicated teacher for eleven years at a school that is made up of low income, disadvantaged, and English as a second language, children.

She puts a great deal of time and effort into her profession and cares deeply about her students.  She is also a mother of three children under 7 years old (6 months, 4 years, and 6 years).  She gives her all at home too by providing a loving and nurturing environment for her children.

Her oldest child, Maya, was born with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS).  Maya cannot walk or talk and needs constant attention.

To say Jen's life is busy, is an understatement.  She constantly gives at home and at work.  Jen also organizes a 5K run/walk every year to benefit the CdLS Foundation, in honor of Maya.  Jen has raised approximately $100,000 for the foundation over the past six years.

Jen is my hero for all that she does for those around her.  It would be wonderful for her to get a chance to get away and travel and drink some wine with friends!
