Active-Duty Military Soldier

Hero: Steve Selman
By: Kathleen Selman, Tampa, FL
We are an active-duty military family, currently stationed on MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. I would like to nominate my husband Steve for this award, as he is our hero. He has been in the military as a US Army Officer for 19 years, and is often deployed.
We have three children, an 8-year-old son and 2-year-old twins, who keep us very busy. However, when my husband is here, he is an amazing father who is very engaged in the children's activities and finds time to volunteer his time in the community.
Steve fosters underage puppies and kittens for the local Humane Society, who would usually be euthanized without the help of foster parents, volunteers his time to assist the 80 orphans at Hope Children's Home, coordinates activities for the local Boy Scout Council, educates High School Students about Hurricanes and is very active in our church.
Steve also takes our children to participate in weekly beach clean-ups and various recycling and clean-up projects so our children can learn how to be responsible individuals. He truly is our here and such an amazing person.
We also love Santa Rita wine, which we buy on MacDill AFB. Thank you! |
